Title
White cotton bust bodice, 1910
Description
This white cotton bust bodice from 1910 shows a move towards more freedom of movement in foundationwear design. It allows greater flexibility, and light support and shaping. Lengths of suspender elastic are set into the shoulder straps and along each side panel of the garment to give it a greater degree of flexibility.

However, the bust bodice still provides some support and shaping through ten strips of curved whalebone inside the front of each bust section. The garment also has more strips of flat whalebone down the back. The bodice fastens at the front with seven bone buttons.
