Title
L1882 - Wooden centring on the Misbourne viaduct at Gerrards Cross
Description
L1882 - Providing a fantastic insight into bridge building at the turn of the twentieth century, this photograph was taken during the construction of the Misbourne viaduct at Gerrards Cross, circa 1903. A series of temporary wooden centrings have been installed on the brick piers to provide the shape of the arch. This imposing structure was built by Pauling & Co. of Westminster, as part of their contract to build the Northolt to High Wycombe section of the Great Western & Great Central Joint Line.
