Title
L1333 - Portrait of Mr. Coulson - Woodford Station Master
Description
L1333 - One of S. W. A. Newton's many images, capturing the railwaymen of the Great Central Railway. This view shows Mr. Coulson, the Station Master and Yard Master of Woodford & Hinton (later Woodford Halse), posed on the platform at Woodford & Hinton. The Great Central had a reputation for its immaculately turned out staff, and Mr. Coulson is a prime example. His uniform is adorned with brass buttons, and the letters 'GCR' embroidered on his lapel. He also wears a 'GCR' badge on his hat. Note the spotless state of the station, including the 'polished' milk churns.
