Title
L1132 - Panoramic view of railway through High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.
Description
L1132 - A panoramic view of the Great Western and Great Central joint line passing through High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. The photograph, taken at the beginning of the 20th Century, is looking over Gordon Road towards the centre of the town. The main rail line is located on the top of a small embankment leading to a steel girder bridge over Gordon Road. A series of freight wagons can be seen on the line. To the right of the photograph is a temporary contractor's wooden-tressle viaduct (destination unknown). S. W. A. Newton describes the area as the 'commencement of the section' - presumably referring to the start of the contract taking the line through the town.
