L1027 - Black Hawthorn built 0-6-0 saddletank locomotive, THE AUDITOR, seen at rest in the contractor's yard. The photograph was taken at Brackley, Northamptonshire, circa 1896. The contractor responsible for building this stretch of the line was Walter Scott & Co. of Newcastle upon Tyne. Note the locomotive's outside cylinders and prominent safety valve.
