Title
Lightweight busk front corset, around 1900
Description
Woman's corset of around 1900, in brown sateen lined with cotton. Features a straight busk, double crossed straps, whale and split cane boning.

Lightweight busk front corset of light brown sateen with a cotton lining and overstrapped with fawn sateen. It has a single, long, straight busk, which differed from the spoon busk widely used at this time. The front has double crossed straps for added strength. The corset is moderately boned with whalebone and split cane, which supports the back lacing.

This corset shows the beginnings of the change in fashion to the straight front, or "Health Corsets", of the early 1900s.
